On June 5 Russians took over a streaming TV service in Ukraine and for ten minutes replaced the England v Wales football match with Russian propaganda. Cyber war!

Round up on good articles on the Russian army.
Great analysis on why the Russian army isnt as good as people thought. This was *before* the invasion. So extra credit goes to Stanimir Dobrev.

And finally, how miserable it is:

This had me thinking a lot about a book I started reading, โSheer Miseryโ, which looks at how war is experienced by the soldiers. A General complains that the bad winter weather is putting more men out of action than the enemy. That is, he thinks of his soldiers as โunits of force.โ For the soldiers though, the weather is visceral. Their feet swell, go black, lose sensation. Their fingers turn blue and freeze solid. It is a torturous experience that they never forget.
Anyway, just made me think about how the experience of being a soldier in Ukraine must be sheer misery in its own way. Apparently some Russians were given pies by a nice old lady, except they were poisoned and 8 of them died.
